Newcastle Veterans Hockey Association Inc.

WELCOME!

Welcome to the internet site of the Newcastle
Veterans Hockey Association.
Newcastle, New South Wales, is located on the
east coast of Australia, approximately 160kms
north of Sydney. It was founded in 1797 and is
Australia's sixth largest city and is home to
the second biggest port in Australia.
Novacastrians appreciate the many advantages of
living in this seaside city - a magnificent
temperate climate, superb beaches, industry, a
large university, only thirty minutes drive from
the world famous Hunter Valley wineries and only
ninety minutes away from the bustle of Sydney.
The climate is so good that every sporting
activity can be played throughout the year, and
Field Hockey is one such sport.

The Newcastle Veterans Hockey Association(NVHA)
conducts two competitions - a club championship
competition from 1st April to 6th October and a
summer competition from 26th October to 31st
March.
Veterens Hockey caters for players aged 40 and
over. A seperate womens veterans competition is
also run during summer for players over 35.
The NVHA fields representative teams in the
annual NSW State Championships in three age
groups- over 50, over 45 and over 40. Teams come
from throught NSW to compete. At the end of the
tournament, a NSW state representative team is
chosen to compete in the Australian Veterans
Hockey Championships.
